A Typical Day in Everest Base Camp Gokyo Cho La Pass Trek?

Why Trek with Us?

One of our previous clients is here to share with you her experience on a typical day in the Everest Base Camp Gokyo Cho La Pass Trek with us.

Hoshi Nohara

We woke up early at the particular teahouses where we used to stay for the nights during trekking days. Usually, around 6:00 AM, with the gentle touch of crisp mountain air and a cup of hot tea/coffee, we would start our day. Then, we would go to the dining hall for a delectable breakfast. While the guides and porters were busy checking and preparing gear, I used to dress up in multiple layers to fit for the chilly morning start of the journey and the gradually warming daytime temperature. With a magical view of mountains bathed in the soft dawn light, we would embark on each day’s trek.

From 7:00 AM to 7:30 AM, we used to be on the trail, starting the journey with a steady pace. We would take quick breaks every half hour to rest and hydrate. Taking advantage of breaks, we also used to capture the magnificent Himalayan surroundings and take in the peaceful ambinaces. Chatting with our guides and porters and taking light snacks and energy bars, we would continue on the journey. By 11 A.M, we used to stop at a teahouse along the trail for a lunch break. After lunch, we would take a relaxing break before setting off again.

Continuing for several hours over the ascending and descending trails, depending upon the route of a particular day, we would reach the teahouse for the night. If the destination were reached around early evening, we would relax for some time and explore the surrounding area. If we were there by late evening, we would simply unwind at the teahouse. We would gather at a communal area for dinner at around 7:00 PM. After spending around an hour reading, entertaining with fellow trekkers, and learning about the next day’s adventure, we would sleep in the cozy treehouse rooms.
